High-quality, gory pixel art. Hurray!
- Blasphemous is a popular Metroidvania that’s making the leap to mobile
- It will arrive complete with all the DLCs
- You can play using touch screen inputs or, if you prefer, a controller
The Game Kitchen has announced that their popular action-platformer Blasphemous is coming to iOS and Android, apparently following fan demand. The people have spoken! We need more brutally difficult Metroidvania on mobile. There’s no official word on when as of yet, though the App Store page says February 24th, 2025. However, that could simply be a placeholder.
Regardless, whenever it does arrive, it’ll be the complete package. That’s right. You won’t be forking over your hard-earned cash only to receive the base version. The mobile edition of Blasphemous will include all the DLCs from day one, making it great value for money. On top of that, it will support controllers right out of the gate, so if you gawk at using touchscreen inputs, have no fear!
If you’re unfamiliar with Blasphemous, it’s not exactly a cheerful adventure. Set in the land of Cvstodia, a curse known as The Miracle had infected its inhabitants. You play as The Penitent One, an individual trapped in a cycle of living and dying. While that’s not the nicest existence, it does position you as the best hope for freeing the world from the horrendous state it’s wound up in.
Being a Metroidvania, you can expect to do a lot of exploring, searching for Relics, Rosary Beads and Prayers to perfect your preferred build. And you’ll need those upgrades. Cvstodia is evidently filled with nasty amalgamations with no other intent than violence. So you’ll have to answer in kind, unleashing powerful combos to strike them down.
Blasphemous has been on my to-play list for about five years now. I adore the solemn aesthetic that frequently becomes overly gory as soon as a fight breaks out. It certainly channels that oppressing melancholy found in FromSoftware’s Souls games, and I lap that up. So now that it’s coming to mobile, maybe I’ll finally find the time to wield the Mea Culpa.
Blasphemous will eventually launch on the App Store and Google Play as a premium game that costs $7.99 or your local equivalent. If interested, you can pre-order before release for your preferred platform using the buttons below.
