Kabam has just dropped a bomb on fans as they’ve announced that their adventure game, Disney Mirrorverse, is shutting down soon. After operating for a little over two years, this dark Disney crossover title is no longer available to download on the App Store and Google Play. And in a few months, the severs will be shut down too, sunsetting the game forever.
Effective immediately, Disney Mirrorverse has been taken off all app storefronts and in-app purchases have been disabled. Neither can you download the game anymore, nor can you make any new purchases. Those who have it installed on their devices can still play, but only until December 16th, post which all servers will be disabled.
Whatever pending content is left will be released over the next few weeks to wrap up the Mirrorverse storyline. Currently, Cinderella and Jafar seem to be in the pipeline, post which no new content will be added.
Kabam did not give any specific reason to shut down the game in their statement, but it is assumed that it has something to do with declining sales. The cost of maintaining such a title and the reduction of consumer spending are probably major contributors.
Our sister website reported that Disney Mirrorverse generated approximately $34.1 million in lifetime gross revenue, but player spending never really sustained. It peaked at $5.8 million in July 2022, a month after launch, and since then it’s only been declining. Last month’s revenue was just $273k, clearly depicting the downfall.
It’s pretty disappointing to see such a game shut down, given its novel take on Disney lore. If you’re looking for alternatives, then Disney Dreamlight Valley is another title which is sure to entertain you.
