- League of Masters: Auto Chess is out now, worldwide on Android and PC
- It offers up an alternative to other major-name auto chess battlers
- Featuring PvE, PvP and raids, among other game modes
Well, you learn something new every day. For one I learned a few days ago that when something is called an auto chess battler it doesn’t actually mean that it’s a version of chess, sort of. Instead, it covers games like Teamfight Tactics and Magic Chess: Go Go which pits characters against each other in a grid board.
But as you may have noticed, a lot of these are based on very big names. And there’s not a lot out there for people who want to give indie devs in this genre a chance. Until now that is, as League of Masters: Auto Chess has released worldwide for Android and PC.
Offering PvP, PvE, and a host of characters and commanders to lead them, not to mention 135 arenas to battle it out in, League of Masters may be cribbing the name a bit, but aside from that this is a credible alternative if you’re looking to explore outside of big-name releases.
Checkmate
I’ve always been a bit iffy about auto battlers in general, however, I do think it’s worth giving a little bit of praise where it’s due to the folks of Ravenage games. The idea to blend RPG mechanics into an auto chess battler is an interesting one, so I’m intrigued to see how it’s received by players. Although the fact it’s not attached to an existing uber-popular title like League of Legends may be a double-edged sword, in that it promises a bit more originality but also a bit less visibility.
