- Neopets: Faerie’s Hope was made under previous ownership
- Faerie Fragments builds on the last game, including some narrative adjustments
- It’s expected to launch in mid-October
The Neopets team, World of Neopets Limited, have announced pre-registration for Neopets: Faaerie Fragments, a recreation of the 2022 release Neopets Faerie’s Hope.
The previous game was, reportedly, designed under the previous ownership of the Neopets brand – with most of the development presumably done before the July 2023 transfer of the company from NetDragon to the current owners. That’s corroborated by the below statement from the team at World of Neopets:
“Neopets: Faeries Fragments is a remastered version of the previously released game Neopets: Faerie’s Hope. Due to technical challenges encountered during the NetDragon and Jumpstart eras, Faerie’s Hope was discontinued. However, with the new management and a strong belief in the game’s essence and value to the Neopian community, we have chosen to remaster the game, incorporating graphical enhancements and minor narrative adjustments.”
As with its predecessor, Neopets: Faerie Fragments is going to be a match-three game set within Neopia, the Neopets universe. Aside from the match-three puzzles that you’ll be doing, you’ll also be dipping into some of the Neopets lore with familiar characters and customising your own home as you rebuild Faerieland.
Neopets is having a bit of a revival at the moment, since it came back into fan and former-core-team ownership the developers have been modernising many of the old pages and have also revived many of the classic games. While the browser-based experience is still a little lumpy, as it moves you from old and new interfaces as you explore the world, it’s in very good condition considering it’s almost 25 years old.
