- Pal go: Tower Defence is a new game that resembles nothing out there
- Certainly not a surprisingly-successful creature-collecting game
- It’s out now on iOS and Android
When it comes to games there’s always the occasional title that reinvents everything, and that nothing before it can surpass. Pal Go: Tower Defence…is not an example of that. It is, however, a fairly competently put-together-looking tower defence that only coincidentally seems to bear a strong resemblance to a certain other cute mascot-based game.
Joking aside, I think it’s fairly obvious exactly where Pal Go gets most of its inspiration, considering the name and the appearance of familiar-looking creatures. Of course, it’d be a bit hypocritical to get on their back for taking inspiration from Palworld, especially given that already takes liberal points from its predecessor Pokémon.
Still, I do have to give kudos to the fact they did actually use another genre rather than simply copying Palworld blow for blow. Whether or not it manages to stand out as a tower defence game or simply a curiosity because of the name, I reckon, will rely on how well it actually does.

I admit, looking a bit closer I do wonder how much Pal Go actually was in development before the name was picked. The use of merging to emulate the evolution system from Pokémon is an interesting idea, and at 10k+ downloads on Google Play clearly, the name is drawing at least some players in. But again, you’d have to give it a go yourself to see how well it stands up to scrutiny.
