Sonic Dream Team, the Apple Arcade-exclusive, is getting a major update which adds new mechanics, changes to the Tails Challenge mode and even more soundtracks from the series’ history to enjoy. What can you expect? Well, let’s dig in and find out!
First off, the major addition here is Powers. These are new limited abilities that you can equip to use throughout the game. They include Stomp, Super Glide, Wall Boost and more, all unlocked via playing Tails Challenges. Speaking of which, the challenges themselves are receiving an overhaul with the addition of new Score Attack levels to enjoy.
As for more miscellaneous additions, there are new soundtracks from the Sonic the Hedgehog series that you can unlock by playing through Tails Challenges and enjoy in-game. The Challenges themselves will also refresh daily, allowing you to gain anything up to the coveted S-rank for even more XP and rewards.

I think the only criticism I could levy against Sonic Dream Team is that it’s stuck on the Apple Arcade service. This is not to say this is a limited, or at all bad, catalogue by any means. But it does limit the potential audience at a time when Sonic has been branching out onto mobile with appearances on Roblox and new games in the works thanks to the acquisition of Angry Birds developers Rovio by Sega. Here’s hoping we’ll see more hit Android in future.
